Alan Garcia, Peru’s former President has died in a hospital in Lima on Wednesday after shooting himself.
Garcia was said to have shot himself as police arrived at his house to arrest him in connection with a bribery probe.
The former president who have reportedly denied any wrongdoing, was 69.
García, according to BBC was accused of taking bribes from Brazilian construction company Odebrecht.
He served as president from 1985 to 1990 and again from 2006 to 2011.
Peru President Martin Vizcarra, who took twitter to announce the death, said he was distraught over the death of ex-President Alan García,” “I send my condolences to his family and loved ones, he said.
