The Scoop Nigeria on the 23rd of April 2019 made a startling revelation of how the daughter of the controversial Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari got secretly employed to Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority as an assistant Vice President, even though she didn’t meet the requirement.
The NSIA is a legally constituted agency that manages Nigeria’s excess crude oil revenues.
According to The Scoopng reports, Ms. Abba-Kyari’s appointment violates set procedure at the NSIA which is the legally constituted agency as the role was not publicly advertised, contrary to the expectations for such a position.
The online medium also reported that Abba-Kyari had just about 5 years working experience at the National Integrated Power Project where she worked up until February 2019 when she got the NSIA role AVP level 3, which is the highest level in the organisation instead of the 10 years working experience needed for the position.
Ms. Abba-Kyari annual package is about 32 million Naira. A brand new official car has also been assigned to her. (Most of the other appointees only get their vehicles after six months into their job).
This is not the first time the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has been enmeshed in a controversy of secretly recruitment.
Onthe 330th of March 2016, Premium Times reported of how the Central Bank of Nigeria, under current governor, Godwin Emefiele secretly recruited 91 children and relatives of politically exposed person connected to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Also on the 15th of July 2016, Sahara reported of how the Federal Inland Revenue service headed by Babatunde Fowler, secretly recruited 349 New Staff in violation of Nigeria’s rules of public advertisement.
On the 1st of July 2016, SaharaReporters also reported on how the Nigerian Prison Service under the leadership of the Controller-General Ahmed Ja’afaru and Minister of the Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau without following established laws for public recruitment exercises illegally recruited 538 persons, with most of those recruited from the Northern part of the country.
The recruits by Emefiele, Fowler and the NPS, according to SaharaReporters were a monumental recruitment fraud where they illegally hired the children and relatives of powerfully connected Nigerians throughout the Federal Government.
The Nigerian Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), The Nigerian Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIM) have also all been reported of carrying out secret recruitment.
