The Surulere Economic and Job Summit organized by Tayo Olosunde took place last week in Surulere, Lagos State.
The summit was tagged “Stimulating local productivity for National development.”
Executive Director of Paradigm Initiative, Gbenga Sesan took the audience through his story under the topic: “Creating local solutions to Global Human Capital Challenges (from Ajegunle with skills- story of PIN).”
He described his story as one being deliberate despite coming from a humble background in Ondo State. He had ventured to Lagos like everyone in 2004 to begin to rewrite his own epic, through his dream- Paradigm Initiative.
In his very inspiring speech, he made bold to remind the audience as well as the corps members to hold their representatives accountable because not most of them truly cared about the youths.
“As a young Nigeria you are on your own.You have only one responsibility which is to yourselves. The politicians don’t really care about us. Ask them questions and don’t queue for photos. Will that picture get you a job or make the roads?”
For Sesan, Lagos has always been a home of opportunities and in being deliberate about his story, he chose a path that will help him practice what he loved. He ended his session by encouraging the audience to be persistent and passionate in the place of work.
“Find a place to express your passion. One of the places that will keep you going is passion. Money will not be a deciding factor,” He surmised.
