Lawyer and Human Right Activist, Abdul Mahmud says the explanation giving by the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi over the killing of two students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti by the Police doesn’t add up.
Men of the Nigerian Police had shot at protesting students of FUOYE protesting the poor electricity situation in their school.
The students during the protest were alleged to have attacked the convoy of Bisi Fayemi, while on tour of council areas in the State.
Two students were allegedly killed by the Police during the protest.
The right activist in a reaction to the killing of the students in a series of tweets on his official twitter handle, said Fayemi’s Wife needed to be questioned by the Police.
He said, “The killing of students in Oye, Ekiti truly elicits some hard questions. Who ordered the shooting? Was it Yeye (pun not intended) Fayemi or a rogue police commander? The police officer pictured shooting, was he in her convoy or her security detail?”
“I’ve read the Press Statement of Yeye Fayemi and the facts don’t add up. One bit.
1) She was already seated in the hall when she kerfuffle outside; but she was able to describe those involved outside as hoodlums. Was it an open hall?”
“She didn’t step out of the hall until the “hoodlums” (read students, who demanded to be addressed by her) had left. When she stepped out, they had left. But she found cars in her convoy vandalized. Question:
“Did the “hoodlums” leave on their own or they were cleared by her security details, fearing the kerfuffle outside would degenerate?”
“Her statement doesn’t add up; she needs to be questioned by the police! She has no immunity!”
“She boasted she is a social activist in her press statement, which I find curiously befuddling. A true social activist wouldn’t have refused to address students, even if they were hoodlums- at least they are humans!”
“When elite chance on some yeye struggle, they consider themselves superstars. The rest of society becomes hoodlums in their eyes. You nor try, Yeye Erelu – pun intended”
