Social commentator and Political Analyst, Ademola Adigun, has said the black man has a sense of inferiority to other races.
Adigun said this in a post he shared on his Facebook page.
He said, we will only develop, until our culture predominates our politics, our education and our conversations… we remain stagnant.
See his tweet below…
I had a very interesting conversation at a bookstore yesterday. It bordered on two premises.
One that the white people ensured Africa’s under development and that the average Nigerian teenager had no sense of history.
Plantation, the lady that is at the store has very strong opinions. It was good to listen to her perspectives on issues.
I do not agree with some of those perspectives, but I appreciate them. She challenged me to ask 5 entrants what she thought was a simple question: the number of coups (successful) that we have had in Nigeria. None of the ages between 15-24 knew the answer. Why? They claimed they had not been taught history in school. Fair point.
Then to the matter of who should bear the responsibility for our under development? Lord Lugard or…
My counter argument. The black man has a sense of inferiority to other races. Why do I say so?
If a white or brown person is seen eating pounded yam, most blacks would find it amazing. Take a picture and all that. I have eaten Tacos, Pizza and regularly eat bread. No one has ever taken my photograph.
Speaking English with the myriad of accents is a must for most parents. While I have seen white and brown speak Yoruba, there never has been a demand for them to speak it with the Oyo or Ijebu accent.
Then religion. We cast away publicly all our gods for new gods from Europe and Asia.
If you entered a restaurant and ate with your hands, you would be called bush. Any act not done to copy the culture of the Europeans is bush. We even wear ties in extreme heat!!!
The white man did not under develop us. Our minds did that. We accept that we are inferior. Our leaders grovel to the West and East. Moslems here take all in Saudi as part of Islam as many Christians can’t distinguish what is Jewish and what is Christianity. We are that dense!
Until our culture predominates our politics, our education and our conversations… we remain stagnant.
